COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado — The search for a suspect wanted on multiple warrants ended in a deadly police shooting in the Citadel Mall parking lot Monday afternoon.
According to the Colorado Springs Police Department, officers found a wanted suspect and several youths in two stolen cars in the mall parking lot. Police say they were later set up to make an arrest as the group exited the food court.
Four people were arrested leaving the mall, but the adult male suspect ran to the Burlington Coat Factory. CSPD said the suspect was armed with a gun and was shot by police at least once.

Despite life-saving efforts at the scene and in hospital, the suspect died.
Details of what exactly led to the shooting have not yet been released. Nobody else was hurt. According to the CSPD, four of the five suspects in the incident carried guns.
Under Colorado law, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office will be the lead investigative authority. All officers who have fired their guns will be placed on administrative leave under the policy.
The identities of those involved have not been released.
