Nelson’s contract with Arsenal expires at the end of the season

Nelson has played just 495 minutes of football for Arsenal this season, having sidelined much of his season through injury.

He is a successful academy graduate but his time in north London could come to an end in the coming months.

In a bid to keep their man, the Daily Mail reports that Arsenal have offered him a new deal.

Her proposal includes an increase in Nelson’s current contract, which is said to be around £35,000 a week.

Despite his desire to stay, no agreement has yet been reached with the club with other sides showing interest in a free transfer.

The report adds that Premier League sides including Brighton, Aston Villa, Fulham and West Ham, as well as Serie A champions AC Milan are interested.

It remains unclear if the 23-year-old will make a move abroad, with Nelson reportedly settling in the capital.

Although his appearances have been limited, the winger has scored three goals and provided three assists in all competitions this season.

Nelson’s most recent goal for the club was an injury-time winner in the dramatic 3-2 win over Bournemouth in March.

It’s a strike that could prove crucial in Arsenal’s quest for the Premier League title despite their recent form slowing them down in the race.

They remain top of the table by four points, but second-placed Manchester City are four points behind with a game in hand.
