Renfield 2 release date: will we see Nicolas Cage as Dracula again?

What is Renfield 2 about?

Renfield is an American horror comedy that will hit theaters in 2023. Chris McKay will direct and produce the film, and Ryan Ridley will write the screenplay based on a story by Robert Kirkman, who will also co-produce.

The film is based on Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel Dracula and the 1931 film adaptation of the same name.[a] Count Dracula himself (Nicolas Cage) is joined by actors Nicholas Hoult, Awkwafina, Ben Schwartz, Adrian Martinez, Shohreh Aghdashloo and others.

On March 30, 2023, Renfield premiered at the Overlook Film Festival and was released in theaters in the United States on April 14, 2023 by Universal Pictures. The reviews for the film were everywhere.

Possible Renfield 2 release date

There is currently no Renfield 2 release date and the sequel has not been approved until April 2023. However, Chris McKay has discussed plans for a sequel to the horror film.

McKay has stated that he believes there are more stories to be told in the universe of Renfield, Rebecca and Dracula. But don’t think this will lead to the return of the Universal Monsters franchise.

Plans for a Renfield sequel depend on how well the first comedy performs at the box office and critics, but we expect there will be plenty of interest in seeing more of Nicolas Cage’s vampire shenanigans. Even if Renfield 2 gets approved, we probably won’t see it in theaters until 2025.

Renfield 2 Anticipated storyline

At this point, there are no solid plot plans for Renfield 2, although there are two directions the film could go. You can either step through time and witness Renfield’s first encounter with Dracula, or you can watch him apply his knowledge to use by defeating other monsters.

Dracula is effectively dead and buried by the end of the first film. If horror movies have taught us anything, though, it’s that vampires never stay dead forever. Renfield 2 could easily revive Nicolas Cage’s movie villain for added mayhem. Renfield’s universe could expand in a hypothetical sequel, with new monsters for Renfield and Rebecca to defeat in true Ghostbusters fashion.

On the other hand, we were blown away by a black and white throwback to Renfield’s first meeting with Dracula in the first film and would love to see more of it. Imagine a movie where Nicolas Cage plays the role of Nosferatu and Nicholas Hoult is lured into his trap.

Renfield 2: Possible new cast members

Nothing has been confirmed, but we can’t imagine Nicolas Cage and Nicholas Hoult not appearing in Renfield 2. It is very likely that Dracula and Renfield will return for another part.

Also, Awkwafina’s Rebecca Quincy from the first film would most likely return given the chemistry between her and the male lead. Based on the film’s climax, it’s safe to assume Rebecca wants to put her monster-slaying skills to good use again.
