Russia suffers fresh attack in suspected attack by UK-supplied Storm Shadow missiles

Russian forces suffered a major renewed attack earlier this morning in the occupied Ukrainian city of Luhansk, using suspected newly-supplied British long-range Storm Shadow missiles.

According to early reports, the target was a former aviation school that is believed to have housed a contingent of Putin’s troops.

At 8 a.m. local time, two explosions occurred in the makeshift barracks. Videos of the aftermath of the strike showed the building on fire and thick plumes of smoke rising into the sky.

Windows in nearby residential buildings were reportedly shattered by the intensity of the blast.

There was no immediate information about casualties.

The Storm Shadow missiles, with an accuracy of more than 150 miles, allow Ukrainian forces to penetrate deeper into Russian-held territory than previously possible will play a key role in the country’s much-anticipated counteroffensive against its occupiers.

On Friday, the missiles supplied by the UK hit the former Interior Ministry Academy and the Polipak Machine-Building Plant in Luhansk.

The Putin-friendly Russian MP Wiktor Wodolatski (65) suffered minor injuries in the attacks.

At least two Russian warplanes and two military helicopters were shot down in the Bryansk region bordering Ukraine on Saturday. This was one of the worst days for Putin’s air force.

Opinions differed as to whether the planes were shot down by Ukrainian attacks, by friendly fire from Russian air defenses, or even by sabotage.

Meanwhile, Volodymyr Zelenskyy flew to the UK this morning to meet with Rishi Sunak ahead of a “crucial” week in the fight against Russia.

The Ukrainian President has arrived for a surprise visit during which he will hold “substantive negotiations” with the Prime Minister at his country home in Checkers.

Zelenskyj was in Paris yesterday for talks with Emmanuel Macron after he held a summit with EU Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Aachen over the weekend.

Sunak will urge more support for Kiev when he attends the G7 meeting in Japan and the Council of Europe in Reykjavik later this week.

The prime minister vowed to send a “message of solidarity” as Ukraine tries to oust Vladimir Putin’s invading forces, saying it is “in all of our interests” that Zelenskyy succeed.

The discussions come after Britain became the first country to deliver long-range precision missiles to Ukraine.
