Sales increased – but Dortmund is still in the red

Borussia Dortmund GmbH & Co. KGaA significantly increased its sales in the third quarter (January 1 to March 31) of the 22/23 financial year. The report published on Friday shows that BVB generated sales of 102.5 million euros (previous year’s quarter 64.4 million euros). However, the group result is again negative at minus 15.5 million euros (previous year’s quarter minus 26.6 million euros). In the first three quarters, group sales increased by EUR 45.6 million to EUR 322.4 million (previous year: EUR 276.8 million).

BVB: full capacity of the Signal Iduna Park

In addition to the qualification for the round of 16 of the Champions League, the full capacity utilization of the Signal Iduna Park is also positively reflected in the figures. In the areas of game operations (from 1.8 to 12.7 million euros), TV marketing (from 24.9 to 35.0 million euros), advertising (from 30.2 to 34.4 million euros), merchandising (from 4.2 to 8.8 million euros) and conference, catering, other (from 3.2 to 9.9 million euros) show significant increases.

Personnel expenses also increased in the third quarter – by EUR 5.0 million to EUR 61.6 million. In the first nine months of the financial year, Borussia Dortmund spent 174 million euros in this area (previous year: 166.9 million euros). The increase is due to increased bonus payments (Champions League and DFB Cup).
