Schalke peace jersey gets a place of honor: sign against Russian war of aggression

The Schalke peace jersey that was worn a year ago at the first home game with a new main sponsor is on display in the German Mining Museum in Bochum.

The peace jersey of FC Schalke 04, which was worn a good year ago at the first home game with a new main sponsor, is now on display in the German Mining Museum in Bochum. With the message “Together for Peace”, the sponsor, team and association set an example against the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine. It can now be seen in the permanent exhibition of the Leibniz Research Museum for Georesources.

Until recently, a traditional mining shirt and a Schalke jersey from 2015 were on display in the Art Tour of the German Mining Museum. As a now historical fact, the main sponsor Gazprom also belonged on the jersey. In response to Russia’s military attack on Ukraine, Schalke announced on February 28, 2022 that they were ending the partnership.

On March 5, 2022, VIVAWEST Schalke became the main sponsor. In the first home game against Rostock, the team wore new jerseys. “No other football club has a stronger connection to mining and the people who have shaped our region than FC Schalke 04,” says Dr. Bernd Schröder, CEO of the Royal Blues. “We are very pleased that the peace jersey now has a permanent place in the German Mining Museum in Bochum”.
