It is one of the largest equestrian events in the country: the German Show Jumping and Dressage Derby in Hamburg. The tournament, also known as the “Hamburg Derby”, is not only a special date for German equestrian sport. Because the riding parcours in Klein Flottbek is not only the oldest, but is also considered the most difficult parcours in the world. Athletes have been competing against each other in the competition since 1920.

Of course, such an event not only attracts German riders to the Hanseatic city. Of course, every dressage rider wants to win the title “Derby Winner” of the most difficult riding course in the world. So it is that the international equestrian elite gathers in Hamburg for the Derby. After all, you can wear the title “derby winner” for the rest of your life! “Hamburger Derby” 2023: the schedule of the tournament

The competitions started on Wednesday May 17th and will last until May 21st. The day before the official start, the horses were examined and the animals were warmed up. The competitions then take place from morning to evening on the following days.

Transmission: “Hamburger Derby” 2023 on TV and Stream

In other countries, equestrian sport enjoys a much higher reputation than in Germany. In this country, apart from “king football”, there is generally hardly any space for the transmission of other sports. Dressage riding usually falls by the wayside. But it’s different with the “Hamburg Derby”: Since this riding tournament is such an important and historic event, at least a small part of it is also broadcast on TV. The NDR shows the tournament live for about two hours as part of the “Sportclub live” program. This applies to Thursday, Friday and Sunday.
