The police have started clearing the Greenpeace protest in the Lower Saxony state parliament. Several hooded police officers ran through the portico hall, the entrance area of ​​the state parliament, on Wednesday afternoon. Among other things, a special task force (SEK), which is trained in height rescue, was deployed on the roof. From the roof, police officers removed the first of the huge Greenpeace banners.

Among other things, a special task force (SEK), which is trained in height rescue, was deployed on the roof. From the roof, police officers removed the first of the huge Greenpeace banners.

A police spokeswoman had said shortly before that there were still around 20 activists on the roof of the state parliament. Two of them were hanging from the facade with ropes. Other activists stood in front of the state parliament.

Greenpeace’s protest, which began early in the morning, is directed against the planned gas production off the North Sea island of Borkum.
