The Tatuí Conservatory, in the interior of São Paulo, opened registration for the second edition of the contest that gives the opportunity to premiere compositions by emerging artists: Jazz Combo Contest Presents New Composers. Students, of all ages and nationalities, with a proven link to the educational institution can enroll.
Free registrations can be made until the 20th of August through the institution’s link.
Students from all over Brazil, who wish to participate in the contest, have the unique opportunity to have their musical creations performed by a group of talented and recognized musicians. Up to ten works will be selected that will be part of the show “Jazz Combo Presents New Composers”, in which the contemplated works will be gathered and interpreted by the group.
In addition to participating in the show, three works will receive a special award, which includes recording, mixing and mastering at Fatec studios, with exclusive interpretation by the Jazz Combo group. The selection will be made by an examining board made up of Jazz Combo professors from the Tatuí Conservatory and guest professors from the institution.
The list of compositions selected to integrate the concert with Jazz Combo from the Conservatório de Tatuí will be announced from August 28, 2023, on the institution’s website.
Created in 1992, the group Jazz Combo from the Conservatório de Tatuí comes from an unconventional background, uniting around ten musicians among professors and advanced level students of the MPB and jazz course at the conservatory. Under the coordination of bassist and composer Felipe Brisola, the artists have the mission of promoting instrumental music with a focus on rescuing the history of Brazilian music in different formations, in addition to unpublished compositions and arrangements.
The Jazz Combo group has already performed dozens of presentations in theaters in São Paulo, with renowned guests such as Mônica Salmaso, Joyce Moreno, Nailor Proveta, as well as American trumpeters Ed Sarath and Daniel Barry.
Good luck!
