Taylor Swift let fans in her hometown of Nashville be the first to hear the official news: Speak Now will be the next album in her “Taylor’s Version” line of re-recorded albums.
Swift is giving fans plenty of time to pre-order the album: she announced it will be out on July 7th.
“I’m more thinking than talking about it,” she said, amid screams as fans recognized by the language that the long-awaited announcement was coming, “I thought I’d show you, so if you’d put your mind to it.” “. the big screens…” There the album art and release date were shown on the big screen.

The July 9th date cheekily cited in her social post, just two days after the new album’s release date, refers to an explicit mention of that date in the lyrics of the Speak Now song “Last Kiss” — presumably refers to a day in 2008 when she went to Texas to visit her then-boyfriend Joe Jonas.
Fans had a pretty strong clue as to what was to come as they stepped onto the show in Nashville on Friday. Wristbands given out to fans turned purple at the end of their final concert last Sunday, and electronic banners that entered Nissan Stadium were colored purple.
Immediately after the announcement at Nissan Stadium, which went down when she switched to a B-stage for the concert’s solo acoustic segment “Surprise Songs,” Swift inevitably seized the moment to premiere a “Speak Now” song, The tour featured “Sparks Fly” accompanying herself on guitar. (Friday’s second surprise number was from another album – “Teardrops on My Guitar” from their debut, which was perhaps counterintuitively played on the piano, not the guitar.)

The new cover features the modern-day Swift wearing a dress similar to what she wore on the front cover of the original album in 2010, but with a more serious expression that definitely doesn’t mark her as the 20-year-old who posed for the cover model the Big Machine edition.
Swift didn’t immediately release titles or other information about the bonus tracks, other than saying there would be six. The total of 22 songs for the release is confirmed on a product page that surfaced shortly after the announcement, where it was revealed that the LP version will be a three-disc set, coming on “three unique purple marble-colored vinyl discs.” is published.
So far on the Eras Tour, Swift has only performed one song from the Speak Now album Enchanted each night, far fewer than any other album she’s put out, with the exception of her debut, which has no nightly substitution. Rather than leading fans to suspect she doesn’t like the album, this quirky decision to practically make the album the MIA in the 3+ hour sets has only increased the expectation that she may be waiting to hear more material from Speak Now ‘ to add until she’s done announcing the re-recording.
Swift has recorded brand new versions of all of their Big Machine releases, with only Fearless and Red appearing in Taylor’s Version editions to date. The new albums have been big sellers as fans follow her desire to only buy and stream the versions where she fully owns the recordings after her public hardship in her Big Machine catalog was sold against her will. The “TV” editions also include numerous bonus tracks from songs Swift wrote but never released during these eras.
Speak Now was a landmark album for Swift 13 years ago, becoming the first and only album where Swift was the sole songwriter on all tracks – seen at the time as a reaction to cynics who believed the young singer were co-writers must have done the heavier lifting on their first two albums.
