It is special moments and experiences that motivate many believers to make a pilgrimage to Maria Vesperbild year after year on the evening of Pentecost. On this day, the pontifical mass and candlelight procession over the Schlossberg to the Fatima Grotto are part of the great tradition of the important Swabian place of pilgrimage. The pilgrims enjoy this uplifting feeling when, in the glow of the evening light, the soft sounds of brass music increase the solemn calm and expectation on the large meadow in front of the altar at the Fatima Grotto.

Slowly, in stepping rhythms, the music gains strength. Then the flags come out of the forest. This is followed by the brass band, the Madonna of Fatima, the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre, and finally the clergy. They are images of great suggestive power and beauty. Pilgrimage director Monsignor Erwin Reichart was able to win Rupert Graf zu Stolberg, auxiliary bishop in the neighboring diocese of Munich-Freising, as celebrant and festival preacher this year.
