Rachel McAdams gave life to some classic movie characters, like Regina George in “Mean Girls” and Allie Hamilton in the novel “The Notebook”. But did you know that the actress turned down roles in big Hollywood movies?

In an interview with the New York magazine Bustle, McAdams commented on her two-year break in her career, made so that she could distance herself from the wear and tear of fame, and even mentioned some films that she turned down during this period. Among them are “Iron Man”, “The Devil Wears Prada”, “Mission: Impossible 3”, “007 – Casino Royale” It is “Agent 86” – all films that had high box office and success among the public.

“There are some things I certainly wish I had done. But I take a step back and say, ‘That was the right person for this.'” says the actress about her rejections in Hollywood. She also takes advantage of the interview to open up about the guilt she felt for not capitalizing on the opportunities that came her way during this break:

I knew I was in a privileged position. But I also knew that those roles didn’t suit my personality and what I needed to stay sane.”

McAdams also commented on some anxious moments where she wondered if she was wasting great opportunities. “It took me years to understand what I was intuitively doing,” she said.

Years later, the actress took back the opportunity to participate in a major Marvel franchise when she joined the cast of Doctor Strange, to play the role of Christine Palmer. The actress’s latest project is “Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret”, which will be released in 2023.
