The DGB commemorates May 2, 1933

On May 2, 1933, the SA and other Nazi organizations occupied the trade union building on Luitpoldstrasse in Schweinfurt. Trade unions were banned in the German Reich, and the company community with compulsory membership in the German Labor Front was proclaimed in the companies. The rule of the managers replaced co-determination and workers’ rights. The labor movement’s early warning: “Hitler means war!” proved true in the devastation of Europe, many millions of victims and unbelievable suffering. With an event, the German Trade Union Confederation Kreisverband Schweinfurt wants to commemorate these events 90 years ago and warn against the spread of authoritarian tendencies today. The DGB informed about this in a press release.
