The male choral society Liedertafel Kaisheim no longer exists. For which purposes the association’s assets are now used.
That the days of the Liedertafel male choral society Kaisheim are counted, that has been apparent for a long time. The choir, which once had around 30 singers, has been shrinking for many years. Michael Bisswanger, most recently a member of the board of directors, can no longer exactly remember the last appearance: “It was a long time ago. That was before the corona pandemic.” This is now over and the men’s singing club (MGV) no longer exists.
The end came after 99 years. According to a press release, the association was founded in 1924 to cultivate singing, promote customs and thus enrich cultural and social life in the town. Many older residents of Kaisheim could still remember the Egerbuckfest, which took place almost regularly in Kaisheim from the 1950s to the turn of the millennium. At the festival, the MGV was the focus. The singers also organized the traditional Christmas concerts and other events in the Marienmünster, performed at Christmas markets and at the forest festival in the Schlössle. The proceeds from the Christmas concerts benefited children suffering from cancer. The musical participation of the Liedertafel at the 875th anniversary of the market town is particularly memorable.
Two board members of the Liedertafel in Kaisheim now wound up the association
Michael Bisswanger reports that the number of members has accelerated during the pandemic. He reports that only three members were “active” recently. It made no sense to continue. At a last meeting in January, it was decided to dissolve. Bisswanger and Treasurer Johann Rößner – “there was no one else on the board” – sort of wound up the club.
It had been decided to donate the remaining MGV assets to charitable causes mainly for children. The kindergarten and the playground initiative Krummfeld received benches. These were purchased with the active help of the parents’ council and the initiative for the day care center and the future playground on Abt-Cölestin-Strasse. The municipality of Kaisheim and the Förderkreis Hofwirtschaft received 500 euros each. (wwi, AZ)
