Troye Sivan addresses the backlash surrounding his new music video.

Last week, the 28-year-old singer released the music video for his new song “Rush,” and many people took issue with the video’s lack of body diversity.

In a new interview troye responded to the backlash and also reached out to people who were criticizing his own body.

“I definitely hear the criticism” troye shared with billboard. “To be honest, it just wasn’t a thought we had — we obviously didn’t say, ‘We want a certain type of person in the video.’ We just did the video and not much thought was put into it.”

troye He then clapped back to people who criticized his looks.

“There was this article… and they talked about it [the lack of body diversity]and in the same sentence, this person said, ‘Eat something, you stupid fellows’.” troye called. “It really blew my mind to read this — because I had my own insecurities about body image.”

He continued, “I think every body is beautiful the way it is, including my own, and it just sucks to see people talk about other people’s bodies.”
