Trump boasts that he is “Roe v. could kill Wade” and boasts of the state’s ban on abortion

Former President Trump on Wednesday hailed the end of the Roe vs. Wade trial and restrictive abortion laws enacted in the year since the landmark decision was overturned by the Supreme Court.

Trump said in a post on Truth Social that he “Roe v. Wade, much to the ‘shock’ of everyone” and put the anti-abortion movement in a “strong negotiating position”.

“Without me there would not be 6 weeks, 10 weeks, 15 weeks or whatever is ultimately agreed upon,” he wrote. “Without me, the pro-life movement would have lost again and again. Thank you President TRUMP!!!”

The comments are sure to be used by Democrats in future attack ads, with access to abortion having been restricted since June last year when the Supreme Court ruled Roe v. Wade and the anti-abortion policies that came with it, is an important motivating factor for voters.

Trump nominated three of the conservative judges responsible for terminating Roe v. Wade voted: Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett.

“Cut and save,” Ammar Moussa, a spokesman for the Democratic National Committee, tweeted with a photo of Trump’s post.

Trump recently avoided giving a straight answer on whether he would sign a federal ban on abortion if elected in 2024.

During a CNN town hall meeting last week, Trump repeatedly dodged the question when asked how far he would be willing to go on a federal ban, saying only that he would work to find a solution that works for the country make sense.

In an interview with The Messenger this week, Trump declined to say if he supported Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) signing a post-sixth-week abortion ban.

“I think as a Florida resident, he didn’t provide an answer to the question, ‘Would you have signed the heartbeat bill that Florida signed?'” responded DeSantis, Trump’s presumed top contender for the GOP nomination. “He won’t answer whether he would sign it or not.”

Last month, Trump’s campaign team told the Washington Post that the Supreme Court’s decision to leave abortion access at the state level was the right way to go. That statement sparked outrage from anti-abortion groups like Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, which has urged all Republican presidential candidates to support a 15-week abortion ban.
