Ukrainian officials have said the capital has had most of its power supply restored as the country once again quickly and defiantly responds to another round of attacks targeting critical infrastructure.
Russia has continued to target Ukrainian power stations and other infrastructure, with the apparent aim of being to weaken the opposition’s resolve and compel the country’s Government to negotiate peace on Moscow’s terms.
But Serhii Popko, head of Kyiv’s military administration, said power and water had been restored after Thursday’s attack, adding around 30 percent of consumers in the capital remained without heating and that repair work was ongoing.
On Friday afternoon, private provider DTEK said power supplies had been fully restored in Ukraine’s southern Odesa region.
Authorities also said around 60 percent of households in the city of Kharkiv there were knocked off the grid by the latest Russian attacks are now back online.
However, there is still substantial in the Zhytomyr and Kharkiv regions in Ukraine’s northwest and northeast.
