Vanderlei Luxemburgo praises the players’ posture in Corinthians’ draw against Bahia

Coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo praised Corinthians’ 0-0 draw against Bahia, which took place this Saturday at Arena Fonte Nova, during the 16th round of the Brazilian Championship. He stated that the team had a good performance, following what had been planned for the game.

– When you can’t win, you tie. Sometimes that’s what the championship offers. In what we agreed for the game, I think it worked, in the first half in a more closed, shy way, we knew their team would be intense.

– In the second half, we made the team lighter and left a chance to kill. We struggled, it’s normal, but we got chances to kill the game, so it’s worth valuing the result because it’s the Brazilian Championship. Of six points, we won four. Five games without losing, two games without conceding a goal away from home, we have to value it – evaluated Luxemburgo.

But the focus, of course, is on next Tuesday’s game against São Paulo, at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), at Neo Química Arena, for the first leg of the semifinals of the Copa do Brasil.

At the start of this Saturday’s match, Luxemburgo opted for three defenders (Bruno Méndez, Gil and Murillo), but during the second half, he made a tactical change to a defensive line with four players. As for the lineup for next Tuesday, the coach preferred to keep the mystery, keeping all possibilities open, while ensuring that the squad will be prepared for this decisive game.

– Why are you in a hurry? Fans are fans, but I can’t give the opponent an advantage over what I’m going to do in the decisive game. I don’t have to say anything, just wait for the decisive game and be prepared. We are prepared to play as we play today, or with a line of four, three defenders with Bruno playing on the false wing, we have consolidated all of that.
