Vera Mossaformer player of the Brazilian national volleyball team and mother of Bruninhoresponded to a post by his son on social media after he came out in defense of Wallace de Souza, suspended for five years as a punishment to suggest “shooting in the face” of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), in a post on the networks. She considers that the opposite of Sada Cruzeiro is to blame for the suspension of Brazilian Volleyball Confederation (CBV) for the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB).

“I read it very carefully and carefully, I need to make a correction… I know that your intention is the best possible, you are defending a friend and Volleyball, but come on… you yourself understand that he made a serious mistake, he apologized and if he said he was sorry and was deservedly punished… then why didn’t he fulfill all the punishment??!!”, wrote the former player.

Bruninho’s mother refers to the suspensive effect that guaranteed Wallace his participation in the final stretch of the Superliga. On April 3, CECOB determined the suspension of the opposite for 90 days of all activities related to COB, as well as sports entities linked to the Brazilian Olympic system.

The CBV interpreted the decision as a reason to ban him from its competitions for the specified period, but an injunction granted by the STJD the following week accepted the athlete’s defense request and determined that he be released to play.

“I also don’t know if he was coerced into non-compliance… There are several issues involved and everyone was warned about the sanctions in case of non-compliance… None of this would be happening if Wallace had fulfilled the punishment until the end… no more … I love you!! @bruninho1?, he completed.

A very strong winger, Vera Mossa participated in three consecutive Olympics: Moscow (1980), Los Angeles (1984) and Seoul (1988). At just 17 years old, she won the South American Championship, in 1981, and was runner-up two years later.

During the 1980s, he piled up national and state titles playing for Supergasbrás. Bruninho was born in 1986, stolen from his relationship with coach Bernardinho. She ended her career in 2000 in Italy after a series of injuries. Since then she has worked as a sports commentator and businesswoman.

‘SHOT IN THE FACE’ OF LULA

The Olympic medalist’s punishment with the Brazilian volleyball team happened after the player suggested a “shot in the face” by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) in a publication on social networks in January of this year.

In January, Sada Cruzeiro regretted Wallace’s attitude and announced his removal from the team for an indefinite period, highlighting the need for caution in demonstrations on social networks because of the “delicate” moment in the country. The athlete is a declared supporter of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), defeated at the polls by the PT in the 2022 elections and an enthusiast of expanding access to weapons by the population.

After winning the Superliga with Cruzeiro, he said he was wrong to ask his followers who would shoot Lula and thanked the people who supported him. “I made a mistake off the court, which I apologized for, I regretted it. I don’t want any athlete to go through that”, he said.
