Actor, director and producer Vin Diesel (“Triple X”) has stated that he is developing several spinoffs of the “Fast and Furious” franchise, including an all-female version of the franchise. The artist broke the news during a charity event for fellow franchise Charlize Theron, the Africa Outreach Project (CTAOP). “I started development on the female spinoff… in 2017 along with other spinoffs, and the sooner I deliver the ending, the sooner I can release them all,” said the actor.

Also present at the event, actress Michelle Rodriguez (from the upcoming “Dungeons & Dragons: Honra Entre Rebeldes”) showed uncertainty regarding her return to the derivatives. “You go in the passenger seat. When the next generation comes along, you have to do this. It’s the only way to allow them to define the future,” she said.

The novelty may have to do with the return of Gal Gadot to the saga, after her character Gisele was presumed dead in “Fast and Furious 6”.

There are still no details about the plot or the cast. However, this is not the first time that Diesel has shown a desire to continue with the franchise. During the premiere in Rome, the star suggested that the outcome of the saga could become a trilogy. “It’s too bittersweet to think about closure,” he said. According to him, the depth of the characters required more screen time. “Look at the amount of characters and exceptional talent present in the film. There was no way I could accomplish this unless everyone was there for five seconds. These characters are captivating and we need to see more of them”, he argued.

“Fast & Furious 10” stars Jason Momoa (“Acquaman”) as the villainous Dante Reyes, who is seeking revenge against the Fast family due to the deaths of his own family members in “Fast & Furious 5” (2011). The tenth film in the franchise features the return of Gal Gadot (“Death on the Nile”) and Dwayne Johnson (“Black Adam”). Diesel admits it wasn’t easy keeping the cameos under wraps. “I’m extremely excited to have them back and even more excited to see the fans’ reactions and how it brings people happiness,” he commented.

The release took #1 at the North American box office with $67.5 million. In addition, international sales were US$ 251.4 million, making it the biggest release of a film outside the US in 2023. In Brazil, the film occupied half of the available theaters (which are 3.2 thousand, according to the Ancine), surpassing the recently released “Guardians of the Galaxy vol.3”.

Fast & Furious 10 is now showing in theaters. The spinoffs do not yet have a premiere date.
