Warehouse goes up in flames – large-scale operation in Rendsburg

A warehouse in Rendsburg (Rendsburg-Eckernförde district) burned down on Friday night. The firefighters fought the flames for hours, and the all-clear was only given in the morning.

When the emergency services arrived around 2 a.m., the front part of the warehouse was already completely on fire, the fire brigade said. The flames were prevented from spreading to the rear of the warehouse and surrounding buildings.

The rescue workers were also able to prevent the flames from spreading to an adjacent residential building. According to the fire department, four adults had to leave the house on Friday night.

Nobody was injured. The extinguishing work would have lasted until the early hours of the morning. 60 firefighters were on duty.

The cause of the fire is said to be unclear. Information on the amount of damage was not yet available. (dpa/fbo)
