While this is undoubtedly one of the smaller voice acting roles on Elijah Wood’s resume, there’s no question that his character is one of the funniest parts of the entire episode — he drops everything he believes in just to protest with Luanne, and fights frequently with him fellow student Zack (voiced by Dax Shepard) about who cares most about “Luanne’s cause”.
Although some fans might think that “King of the Hill” takes place a bit outside of Wood’s wheelhouse, he’s lent his talent to various popular adult animated series over the years. Some notable examples include his cameo appearance on American Dad; in which he played another college student named Ethan, who falls in love with Roger’s (Seth MacFarlane) teaching style and his performance in Robot Chicken; in which he reprized his role as Frodo Baggins in a raunchy parody of The Lord of the Rings.
Though it’s hard to believe that Frodo Baggins himself performed in the aching southern town of Arlen, Texas, Wood’s guest role on King of the Hill is one of the funniest characters of his voice acting career.
