During her time at Dowling Catholic High School in West Des Moines, Iowa, Clark was recognized as one of the top recruits in her class and was named a McDonald’s All-American. In her first season with Iowa, she led NCAA Division I in scoring, was named a national freshman of the year, and received All-American honors. As a sophomore, Clark became the first female player to lead Division I in points and assists in a single season, earning unanimous first-team All-American honors.

In her junior year, Clark won the AP Player of the Year, Naismith College Player of the Year, and the Wade Trophy, repeating as a unanimous first-team All-American.
