Who plays Galadriel’s brother Finrod?

Although Will Fletcher made only a few sparse appearances in The Lord of the Rings: The Power Rings, it’s worth noting that Finrod is actually a highly influential character within JRR Tolkein’s original source material.

According to Tolkein’s The Silmarillion (a detailed account of the creation and history of Middle-earth), Finrod was the king of Nargothrong, an underground elven city that Finrod built with the dwarves. He was also the first of the Ñoldor elves to discover the humans of Middle-earth and became very close to them – once giving a magic ring to a man named Barahir, which was later passed on to Aragorn son of Arathorn. Finrod’s death also came at Sauron’s hands in the books, although he did one last feat when he broke free from his prison cell and saved the hero Beren from a werewolf – dying of his wounds shortly afterwards.

Although The Rings of Power omits most of Finrod’s long and important story, it’s fair to say that Will Fletcher’s brief appearance still has a major impact on the series – as Finrod’s death set the impetus for Galadriel’s quest for and gives Defeat Sauron and is the driving force behind her story arc in the first season of the series.
