Why Marvel Had to Hide Some ‘Absurd’ Iron Man Deleted Scenes

While Iron Man producer Jeremy Latcham did not describe any unreleased deleted scenes from this film other than the one where Tony does laundry, the MCU is littered with bits and pieces that never made it into a theatrical release. Some were the by-product of rewrites and rewrites, while others were deemed irrelevant, at odds with existing canon, or just not good.

Such as Yahoo! Finances, 45 minutes of Thanos-related content was excised from the final version of Avengers: Infinity War. The sequences would have shown the Mad Titan’s capture of the first Infinity Stone in his gauntlet, the Power Stone he took from the planet Xandar after invading the Nova Corps and stealing it from them. That sounds like an exciting Disney+ exclusive, at least, because the theatrical version of Infinity War never gives the audience a satisfactory explanation as to why the grape-colored villain already arrives with an Infinity Stone in hand.

Additionally, as compiled in Looper’s summary of scenes that never made it into the MCU, a number of miscellaneous references to Spider-Man, mutants, and X-Men have been dropped over the years. As the MCU is only now beginning to confirm the existence of mutants in the universe, with characters like Kamala Khan in “Ms. Marvel” and Namor the Submariner in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” were the first to use the word “mutant” openly.

Many scenes have been removed over the years that would have changed the MCU forever. And while we may never know why Kevin Feige fought so hard to keep those Iron Man scenes in the archive, they likely wouldn’t have had nearly the same impact as many of the scenes that were removed in later films.
