Midfielder Ruan Oliveira was the big news on Corinthians’ list of players for the game against Argentinos Juniors, which will be played this Wednesday, for the fourth round of the group stage of the Copa Libertadores. With a history of injuries, the athlete was called up again for a Timão game after almost three years.
The last time Ruan was listed for a Corinthians match was against São Paulo, on August 30, 2020. At the time, the player did not enter the field and saw Timão lose 2-1, in a classic played at Morumbi . At the time, Alvinegro was led by coach Tiago Nunes.
Seen as a talent from the club’s base, Ruan Oliveira has suffered three serious knee injuries in recent years. In September 2020, the midfielder tore a ligament in his left knee. A year later, on the verge of recovering, the athlete underwent a new procedure in the region. In June 2022, the young man suffered a new ligament rupture in his left knee, having to renew his loan with Corinthians until June 30 of this year.
“Thank God I’m coming back, it was very difficult. It was work, dedication, overcoming. The time has come and it’s time to continue, I’m prepared. got discouraged, but you have to have a good head. The third was the one that hit the hardest, but you have to have God, you have to have a very good mind”, commented the midfielder in conversation with the Corinthians TV.
Ruan Oliveira belongs to Metropolitano and arrived at Corinthians on loan in 2019, for the under-20 category. He rose to the professional ranks, played four games the following year under Tiago Nunes and, since then, has been suffering from these injuries. If the 23-year-old is used, depending on his performance, a new renewal is not ruled out, in principle, until the end of 2023. Timão has 10% of the player’s rights.
Completely recovered, Ruan Oliveira has been pleasing the technical commission in training at CT Dr. Joaquim Grava. The player has good ball handling and technical quality to distribute play in the middle. Among the athlete’s competitors are names like Paulinho, Maycon, Fausto, Matheus Araújo, Giuliano and Renato Augusto.
Corinthians and Argentinos Juniors face each other this Wednesday, at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), at Diego Armando Maradona Stadium. The game in Buenos Aires is of great importance for Timão, who see their qualification for the knockout stage of the Libertadores threatened if they don’t get the three points.
