With a show by Gabi Zanotti, Corinthians scores 7-1 at Cruzeiro for the Women’s Brasileirão

Corinthians was not recognized by Cruzeiro, this Sunday morning, in a game valid for the ninth round of the Brazilian women’s Championship. With a great performance by midfielder Gabi Zanotti, Timão thrashed Raposa 7-1 at the Fazendinha stadium.

With this result, Corinthians takes second place in the Brasileirão with 22 points, two less than leader Flamengo. Coach Arthur Elias’s team can still be overtaken by Ferroviária, who plays in this round against Grêmio.

The game

Corinthians’ first goal came in the first minute of the game, with Yasmin. The side took advantage of a detour in the small area after a free kick and pushed the ball into the back of the net.

Timão expanded in the 10th minute with Gabi Zanotti, who returned after some downtime due to ankle surgery. The number 10 completed Ju Ferreira’s cross with his head and extended it to the brabas. The third attempt came soon after, again with Zanotti, this time taking advantage of the rebound given by the Cruzeirense goalkeeper in Jheniffer’s submission.

Corinthians’ fourth goal came in the 16th minute, with Jheniffer. The attacker finished in the angle after Gabi Portilho’s individual play on the right side. The fifth goal was scored again by Gabi Zanoti, who took advantage of Jheniffer’s backheel and completed with an open goal.

Corinthians’ sixth goal and Zanotti’s fourth came in the 38th minute. The midfielder completed Yasmin’s corner on the first stick, leaving no chance for the Cruzeiro goalkeeper to defend.

Cruzeiro cashed out in the second half, with Vanessinha. The attacker dribbled Tainá after the goalkeeper’s rebound and completed it for the back of the net. It didn’t take long for Timão to score again, this time with Duda Sampaio. The midfielder received a pass from the right and finished strong against the Cruzeiro goal.

Concern

Goalkeeper Tainá left the pitch during the second half, with a thigh problem, and could reinforce the club’s medical department. At the moment, Ellen (ligament injury recovery), Erika (special training for muscle strengthening) and Gabi Morais (plantar fascia tear) are having physical problems.
